Responsibilities of Upazila Nirbahi Officer

The Upazila Nirbahi Officer represents the Central Government and performs the following duties as the Nirbahi Officer of the Government at the Upazila level:

  1. To perform administrative duties under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner.
  2. To coordinate the development work of different departments at the upazila level.
  3. To assist all concerned in formulating and implementing integrated programs at the upazila level.
  4. If necessary, make arrangements to apply section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
  5. Writing the annual confidential report of the subordinate officer.
  6. To bring the victims to a safe place during natural calamities and to distribute relief materials.
  7. To manage the revenue fund of Upazila Parishad.
  8. To arrange training for officers and staffs, UP chairman / members / secretaries at upazila level.
  9. To comply with all government orders / instructions at the upazila level.
  10. Acting as drawing and disbursing officer of subordinate officers-staffs.
  11. To approve and supervise the work project of LGSP.
  12. To act as the Chairman of the Upazila Law and Order Committee.
  13. To inspect the educational institutions under the upazila
  14. To be responsible for national and local elections.
  15. Providing khas land settlement among the landless.
  16. Conduct public examinations.
  17. Acting as Protocol Officer at different times.
  18. Conduct mobile court as executive magistrate.
  19. To rehabilitate the landless through the implementation of Government's Guchchhagram and Shelter / Housing Project
